Martin has revolutionised what caterers can be capable of by being the first to introduce gas combi ovens – he saw a demand for them so he worked out a way to modify them to be transportable. From there, MAK has grown from strength to strength as we look beyond what’s available to what chefs truly need in their kitchens.
We now stock over 30 combi ovens – plus we provide everything from your everyday convection ovens, stainless steel benches, and gas deep fryers to more niche items such as bratt pans and ready-to-use coffee machines (with water plumbing and accessories).

MAK Catering was founded by German-born international chef Martin Koestlin in 1997, when he realised there was a demand for quality back-of-house catering equipment to hire that was clean, reliable and fit for purpose.
Martin has been a leader on the Sydney hospitality scene for over 35 years, and was delivering award-winning catering at Acer Arena before he made the leap into starting MAK Catering. As executive chef, he led the Sydney Super Dome team to win many awards, including Venue Caterer of the Year and Caterer of the Year, at both NSW and national levels, at the Restaurant and Catering Awards.
MAK remains a proudly Australian-owned company, and we’re confident there’s nobody in the market that understands what chefs really want and need for their kitchens like we do.
